Chia (250mg):
Famous for its use in Chia Pets, this herb seed also gives many health benefits. The plant, which derives from the mint family, has fuzzy, dark green leaves. Often used by ancient Aztec warriors as a basic survival ration - it was believed that one tablespoon of Chia seeds could sustain an individual for 24 hours! They also used it medicinally to stimulate saliva flow and relieve joint pain and sore skin. In modern times Chia is used in many foods because it is rich in omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants. Some people have found that mixing Chia seeds with chicken feed produces eggs rich in omega-3s.

Detailed planting instructions:
Add 1/4 cup of water to 2 teaspoons of Chia seeds. Stir the mixture after 15 minutes to moisten all seeds, then let it set for 24 hours. This process softens the seed coat and begins the growth cycle of your Chia seeds. In another container, also soak your Chia planter for 24 hours. Carefully apply the seeds evenly to the grooves of your planter, using your fingers, a small knife, or a spatula. Fill your Chia to the top with water. Check the water level daily and add additional water whenever necessary. Some leakage in the drip tray is normal. Discard the accumulated water daily. Keep full of water. Moist seeds should sprout in 3-5 days. When the air is dry, it is more challenging to keep the seeds moist enough to sprout properly. To promote germination of the seeds, "tent" a plastic bag over your Chia. Do not allow the plastic to touch the planter! This will create a greenhouse environment for your Chia. When most of the seeds have sprouted (about 3 to 4 days), remove the bag and place your Chia in a sunny location.

Harvesting:
Harvesting chia seeds and caring about the whole process of growing them by yourself at home in your garden is considered an important thing, and this goes back to the different health benefits that any person could gain from the nutritional value related to this seed. There are actually different benefits for chia seeds that have been mentioned millions of times but should always be stressed about. The chia leaves can be used in order to form the chia tea, and this tea is beneficial when it comes to healing diarrhea, fevers, and can be used as pain reliever.
