In the fall, after the last frost, plant okra while soil is still warm. Create holes about 2" apart, 1/2" deep, and plant. In a week or two, thin plants to 8" apart. You can also start your seeds indoors in climates where there are shorter or cooler summers. Okra seeds can be hard to get started. Soak them in water for 24 hours before planting. They should germinate within 2-12 days and mature into pods within 55-60 days.

Organic Okra - Burgundy Harvesting Instructions:
Begin harvesting burgundy okra pods when they are about 2-3" long. Continue harvesting your pods about every other day. Organic okra left to grow too long will become woody and pulpy. Store your heirloom okra in plastic bags in the refrigerator and use them within 5-7 days. Burgundy okra can also be frozen or canned for long-term storage.
