Organic Lettuce: Leaf - Flame Planting Instructions:
Flame Leaf Lettuce thrives in full sun, but will tolerate partial shade. Plant the seeds in early spring or fall, 1/8" deep, 1" apart, and in rows 12 to 18" apart. Once the plants have 2 or 3 true leaves, thin them to 6 to 10" spacing. During dry periods, keep the plants well-watered. Unless there is regular rainfall, the plants will need watered deeply at least once a week. Use a layer of mulch to help the soil retain moisture. Lettuce is shallow-rooted, so it is important to avoid disrupting the soil around the plants when weeding.

Organic Lettuce: Leaf - Flame Harvesting Instructions:

Lettuce harvested early is of better quality than lettuce harvested late. If the plants are allowed to grow too long, the leaves become bitter and tough. Plan to harvest in the morning or evening, when the leaves will be at their most crisp and sweet. Fresh lettuce can be stored in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for 5 to 7 days after harvest.
