Plant the Walla Walla Onion seeds directly outside after the last frost, or start the seeds indoors 6 to 10 weeks earlier. After 7 to 14 weeks, seedlings should appear. Plant the seeds 3 to 4" apart in rows 1 to 2" apart. If you plan to harvest scallions, plant the seeds more closely together. Plant seeds in a place that gets full sun and where you did not plant onions the previous year. After the seedlings are 1 to 2&334; tall, thin to 3" apart. Keep weeds under control and make sure the plants get ample water, especially as the bulbs are forming. Fertilize six weeks after planting.

Organic Onion: Walla Walla Harvesting Instructions:
Walla Walla Onion bulbs are ready to harvest around 100 days from sowing. To harvest, pull onion bulbs from the ground and cover them with foliage to keep them from getting sunburn. Allow them to dry in the garden for a week. Next, bring them indoors to cure for 2 to 3 weeks in a warm, dry place with good air circulation. Once cured, store the bulbs in a mesh onion bag or pantyhose in a cool, dry location.
