Recently purchased the 2-week 1-person
"Recently purchased the 2-week 1-person emergency food supply kit (with the idea that it would last me and my wife 1-week) from Patriot Supply. It came in a nice, compact, bucket which as an added bonus could potentially be useful for carrying water or other materials, if necessary. Before this, we had always stored the "Calorie bricks", lemon-flavored bars with the hard consistency of glue and sawdust (or maybe that was the fire starter???) in case of emergency. Being in our 40's, we wanted something a little more substantial. In an emergency, one of the most important things is emotional stability, to find peace and comfort in your survival. One way to do that: dry socks, a good plan, and a fresh, warm meal. Although we haven't opened up any of the food/drink pouches yet (we'll save them for an emergency), we also ordered a single pouch of chicken alfredo pasta. We had it for dinner a few nights ago, and it was actually really good. I like how the 2-week supply fits in a single bucket for easy storage, and it just feels nice to know that we have something more substantial than a "calorie brick. " However, as a free gift with our order, we also received a couple calorie bricks, so thats a good option too. Calorie bricks are fine, but to think about having to live off that for any amount of time seems rough. Although we hope and pray that we never find ourselves fending for our lives in a dire survival situation, it's nice to know that one of the Big 3 survival needs are taken care of."
