Not a bad kit at all for the price.
As always, MyPatriotSupply delivered quickly, and the kit was well-packaged and arrived in excellent condition. A+ on that! Otherwise, the kit is fairly complete and appropriate for the ~$20 price tag it's being sold at. I believe most of the contents are low-budget off-the-shelf items made in China that have been combined together for this kit, and you can probably find these elsewhere in other kits, so they'll probably be familiar to anyone who has been around low-budget survival kits before, but there also seems to be a handful of unique items made specifically for/by ReadyHour here exclusive to this kit. The kit as a package is reasonably light and compact, and slips nicely into a light backpack, duffel, or glove box to stay out of the way until needed: they packed a lot of items into this little kit, and there might be a little room left in the kit to add a small item or two; the kit comes in a great waterproof pouch wrapped in a nice mesh pouch, neither of which gets much attention in the contents list, but combined might possibly be some of the kit's best items. The included survival booklet is a nice touch. First, I can't say it's got EVERYTHING you would need for a survival kit: you'll probably want to find a small emergency tent, pocket knife/multitool, and water filter/purifier option to round out this kit. That said, the kit as-is isn't bad at all for covering most of your emergency basics: - Shelter: a standard-issue emergency blanket and light plastic poncho is included, and a little cordage that might support a tent in a pinch, if only one were included. (If you are away from your car, these would be the most minimal possible artificial shelter you'd want to be stuck with, and I suggest adding your own emergency tent, such as the one sold separately by ReadyHour, and maybe an additional, longer length of paracord.) - Fire and light: a matchbook and tinder are included, along with candles and glow sticks. (I strongly suggest a backup fire-starter, such as a basic ferro-rod or magnesium starter from ReadyHour or your local S-Mart sporting goods section.) - Water: one of your most important survival resources, but it's not covered by this kit. (I strongly suggest adding your own emergency water option, like a survival filter straw or water purification tablets.) - Cutting tools: Two double-edge razor blades are included, as are the sharp edge, saw edge, and can-opener on the survival card. (I cannot honestly imagine relying on these tools to cut anything, and I strongly suggest adding your own small pocket knife or multi-tool of some sort to serve as the primary cutting tool - those razor blades sound like a disaster waiting to happen!) - Emergency signaling: a signal mirror, whistle, glowsticks, and reflective blanket are included, and together seem like reasonably well-rounded supply of options. (Remember that "threes" are a universal call for help - three whistle tweets, three mirror flashes, three piles of rocks, whatever. I actually didn't know that until recently!) - Navigation: a surprisingly large and practical plastic bubble compass, with small notepad and pencil, are included. (You probably don't want to be stuck relying on these low-budget items alone for your primary navigation tool, but if you carry a phone with a GPS and/or a nicer compass, that's probably not a problem.) - First Aid and Repairs: duct tape, snare wire, small twist ties and zip-ties, elastic bands, double-edged razor blades, fishing line, cordage, and a few other small items are included. (The First-Aid options are not even minimal - you can use duct tape as bandages, but should probably add some band-aids and small travel-size medicine packets - anti-diarrhea, pain relief, allergy relief, etc. You might want to swap out the roll of duct tape for a lay-flat packet of pocket duct tape to take up a little less room - or break the roll down on your own to a lay-flat tape packet - and maybe add a couple pre-threaded sewing needles for clothing repairs and emergency stitches.) - Food: snare wire and a mini fishing kit are included. (This is probably sufficient: food, surprisingly, isn't one of the more vital survival items - you might feel miserable doing it, but you can skip meals for several days, and you're going to probably want to hope you aren't out there that long, especially relying on a kit that includes no fresh water source, emergency shelter, or knife!) Morale/Comfort: A survival guide booklet is included for reading material and instructions; it's not much, but a nice touch in a kit like this, which rarely includes instructions! (Better hope you aren't in your emergency situation long enough to get bored, demoralized, or panicked; packing with your kit a deck of those survival playing cards with plant identification and knot-tying instructions and so on printed on them is optional but probably wise.) Overall a nice four-star kit for the price!
