The rod is 5 inches long and half-an-inch in diameter, so it’s easy to carry in your pack. Weighs 127 grams.
It’s easy to use, too. Just strike it with the accompanying striker plate, and a shower of sparks will fall as the ferrocerium reacts with oxygen and gets REALLY hot. You’ll have a roaring fire in no time!

This is such a cool product and works really well. I originally bought them for our ER supply but when my 13yo daughter had to come up with a lesson to teach a group of 4-H kids, I pull one out and gave it to her to use to build a fire for part of her lesson. She got it sparking quickly and got her fire started. After that, I went back and bought several more!
