Warmth Is on the Way
The fan motor operates on heat and must absorb enough of it in order to run. No electricity required!
It takes up to three minutes for the fan to begin spinning. It takes another five to eight minutes to reach its full speed and emit maximum heat. At that point, the fan will blow three to four miles per hour, just like a small space heater!
*Canned heat is chafing fuel—nontoxic, and generally safe for indoor use. It is still HIGHLY recommended to provide adequate ventilation in any room where it is in use.
Store in a dry place at a temperature between 40-120°F (4-49°C). They should also be kept away from heat sources, open flames, and flammables.

Recommend for Emergency Heat Source
I had looked at the Vest heater as an emergency heat source a while back, but some negative reviews on performance swayed me to continue searching. After the 5g agenda install was carried out by the local wireless company in our tiny WY towns of less than 900 people combined, power disruptions were frequently happening during summer into fall. One day we experienced an 8 hour day without power. Power consumption for heat hadn't even begun! WY winters are longer than summer and can be extreme. We have had - 50 degree temps. An 8 hour day in those temps is VERY COLD without any heat source! My sister had made a recent purchase of the Vesta, which put it back on the plate for consideration. I took advantage of the recent holiday sale and purchase two plus an additional pack of canned heat. I did a trial burn in the 12'x8' covered enclosed pergola's mini iron fireplace, mainly to burn off any residue before using inside. It was a 6 degree morning and the test resulted in failure, as the Vesta didn't yield enough heat to even heat the soap stone brick directly in front of the vent. I had only used two cans in this test, so as not to waste fuel with that very thought in mind. I let the cans burn out and brought the Vesta in two days later for an inside test. This time I used three cans, placing the Vesta on a ceramic tile on a table separating the large 21'x18' living room and small kitchen, pointing it at the kitchen area. The dedicated heat source was off in both living room and kitchen for the test and had been all morning. When the sun is out, it heats the rooms without the need for heaters due to the almost 7,000 ft elevation, until the sun starts to set. The outside temp at this time was 21 degrees. I lit the cans at 3:30pm. About an hour in, the heat was blowing out nicely and heating a 2'x2' area around the Vesta sides and front, moving heat outward into the kitchen. There was a smell from the fuel which dissipated after the first hour, leaving only a faint smell. I noticed my eyes were drying out during the burn so I had cracked the kitchen window about a 1/4 inch for air, and I brought in three ice-cold soap stone bricks from the fireplace and placed them on the sides and top of Vesta for thermal mass. I later removed the side bricks, as the handles prevented any heat absorption, and placed a second brick on top so they extended over the side to divert the rising heat from 1/2 gap on heater base, and the other against the back length-wise to leave the fan area open. Three hours in and the sun had set. By 6:45pm the temp was down to 1 degree with a "feels like -16 degrees". At 7pm it was hot in the living room and kitchen and I had to open up the pergola-facing window 5 " and turn on the kitchen ceiling fan (in reverse) to cool the rooms and circulate hot air. The soap stone bricks were hot to the touch, with the back brick too hot to hold your hand on it for very long. The inside test was a success! The heater burned from 3:30pm to 11:30pm, burning cooler the last hour due to fuel depletion. My only complaint is the drying eyes and slight odor of fuel. But in an emergency situation, this is of no consequence. Toward the end of the cans I had put a cast iron pot with water on top of the soap stone, but the back can had already burned out and the two front cans were starting to die out. It was too late to heat the water to see if that alleviated the dry eyes. I got 8 hours burn time out of the front and middle cans, which exceeded the labeled burn time. While I did not temp-test the air on my test, my sister took down readings during her test in a 364 cu ft bathroom, which has a terrible aluminum window and a vent they plastic over for winter. Her outside temp was 63 degrees and her Vesta reached 72.3 degrees by 8 hours in. When used properly, the Vesta heater is a functioning alternate emergency heat source and I totally recommend this product.
They were life savers
Recently i had my furnace go out for a week. Thankfully I had my 2 indoor non electric space heaters. They were life savers. Nice edition to my electric space heaters. Helped all of us keep warm and from freezing to death.
Worth The Purchase
I’m very impressed with how this item was packaged, setup ease, instructions clear and concise and operation of stove. It works as advertised and then some!
Made life much easier in ice storm
I purchased the Vesta Heater and Stove some months ago with the idea it was something I probably would never use, but would take comfort in knowing I had it on hand. Then my area had an ice storm and the entire county was without power for 48 hours. Temperatures went below freezing, but while the heater was running on three canisters, the room temperature not only held but raised a couple degrees. This was in a 350 square foot space. If one were able to keep the heater in a 200 square foot space as recommended, performance would certainly be even better. The canisters were very clean burning, with only a slight odor at first, and no smoke to speak of. The ability to cook a hot meal, boil water or sit by the warmth of the little heater fan made a very unpleasant situation so much more tolerable. It was an excellent investment that I would especially recommend to anyone who does not have a gas stove, fireplace or generator in their home.
Love this heater
I camp even in the winter in Montana, I have multiple different heating systems but this one is my favorite and go to one. It is so easy to use and puts out a lot of heat. I buy the candles when on sale. This is also easy to store and set up. I love it!
